Erasmus+ TWLUWS; Czech republic; DAY 6

We started this great Saturday with breakfast at 8:00. We strarted a bit later than usual, because today's sqedule wasn't too packed. Not that in the other days it was, but we had more time to 'breathe'
We than left the hotel at 9am and walked to the Pilsner Urquell brewery. We walked because it took us maximum 10minutes because of our hotels great location.

When we arrived we got split in two groups; profesors and coordinators and stduents.

When the tour strarted we first heard some history behind the brewery and how it had developed trought the years. Also why is it so important. Then we continued the tour and first saw the micro brewery, which held 100litles per batch(the big, normal brewery helds 600litles per batch). We also saw the actual production of the beer; how its cooked, how they fill the bottles, age the beer, and really everything. We even took a closer look at the 4 main ingredients of beer!

This tour was so amazing and interesting to be a part of. Personally, I've been to one brewery before but this was different, big and very interesting. You really could tell that almost every second beer drank in this country and even europe comes from this brewery.

When the tour was over we had some time to buy some souveniers. I went for a beer glass with a message engraved into it. We could also get beer (if we were over 18), shirts, beer glasses and goblets and many more interesting things. Then we had a delicious lunch in a restaurant, located in the same complex as the brewery.

After that we had a good hour to rest, and then we hit the road again with our bus and drove to the Chateau Kozel. The drive wasnt too long. When we arrived, we had some time to look around the beautiful garden and outside of the Chateau. Then we got splih in 3 groups and waited for our turn to enter; we were in the second group with the Polish team. And to be honest, this wasn't one of the best tours we've been on. When we arrived the guide only spoke to us in Czecks, even after we tried explaining that we're an english group. Next, we walked from room to room and listened to an engish tape/explanation of every room. The room's were beautiful and very interesting to see, but unfortunately the guiding of a guided tour wasn't the best.

When the tour was over, we head back to Pilsen and got a few hours for shopping before dinner. Than, after dinner we head back to the hotel, watched the Eurovision finale and went to bed.

Friday, MAY 12 2017

We started today, Friday, with breakfast at 7:30am as usual, and then with a departure at 8:30am. We had a long drive a head of us. 3 hours to be exact! But since it was early we more or less all fall asleep while listening to our music.

We arrived to South Bohemia; Češky Krumlov at around 12:00am and first had lunch. The food was good and the restaurant was in the very heart of the city centre. The atmosphere was great.

After lunch we got some free time; we could either go up to the castle or look around the town. It was truly beautiful and magnificent. This town, Češky Krumlov is a part of the World Cultural Heritage and we really saw why. The town was small but filled with beautiful archaic buildings, narrow streets and beautiful small shops.

One of the favourite parts of the city for me was a small garden/viewing point. You could see the whole city and castle from it and it was so beautiful and breath-taking.

Visiting this place was truly an amazing experience. After spending about 3 hours there, we got back to our busses and drove for another 30minutes to get to the Village Holašovice.

Village Holašovice is also a part of the World Cultural Heritage. When we arrived, Jan explained that the village was build in the 13^th century. The houses were built in the barok style. Why its so interesting is, because the main reason they were build was for farmers to ‘show off’ and compete who had more money. Around the 16^th century almost all of them died and since then it has been a special place. Today it has only 140 people living there.

Village Holašovice is so beautiful and special, because every house was more or less the same, but at the same time it had so many little details that made them original and different from the others.

After that, we head back to Pilsen, had dinner and went for a short walk around the city before going to bed.

Thursday, MAY 11 2017

We started today with breakfast at 8:00am and departure from the hotel at 9:20am from the hotel. We drove to Prague.

The drive took us less than an hour; at least that’s how it felt, because the road was nice and it went by quickly! When we arrived we walked to the Prague castle where our short tour around the city started. All the way trough the city Jan, the Czech coordinator have us some information and interesting facts about the places we saw. The Prague castle is located on “Mala Strana”.

Next, we walked to the city. We walked over the marvellous Charles bridge. We then stopped at the Old Town Square, we heard that when the architect build the Church on that square he was blinded, so he couldn’t ever make another church like that. Than we had lunch.

After our lunch we got our free time. We of course first decided to try the ‘Trdelnik’. It is a sweet dish/pastry. One of the most popular ones in Prague! It was delicious. Then we made a few stops in some of the souvenir shops, Starbucks, Hard Rock Caffee and also just enjoyed the city.

We went back to Pilsen around 17:00 and had dinner at 19:30. After dinner we went for a short walk around the city before going back to the hotel, because the weather was really nice and warm today trought the whole day!
